My background is fine art and commercial art. I have had a sign business, Tacoma Signwriters, for decades. Art was my major in high school and fine art in college. I was offered a scholarship in college based on art and 4.0 GPA. My first job after college was graphic artist and illustrator. I soon began studying sign painting and became the sign painter, then to advance my skill, I entered apprenticeship studies in Seattle. I was the first and only woman sign painter certified by the Union in the State of Washington. However, oil painting was always my passion, although commercial signs made a good living. In 2002 through 2004, I worked full time and went to school full time in Seattle at SAFA/GAGE. Since 2003, I have been involved in monthly critique salons with my most appreciated Mentor, Charles Emerson who was so fortunate to study at Yale and with Josef Albers.
